Qantas Trials New “Preflight Experience” For Premium Passengers At Denpasar

Reports are emerging that Qantas is working to improve the lounge experience for its premium passengers at Denpasar’s Ngurah Rai International Airport.

Up until recently, all business class passengers, Qantas Club members, platinum and gold frequent flyers have been sent to the Premier Lounge – a reasonably underwhelming place.

But Qantas is experimenting with a new lounge experience at Denpasar and so far, it’s receiving positive feedback.

Thirty business class, platinum and gold frequent flyer passengers on the two Qantas evening services (QF44 to Sydney and QF46 to Melbourne) are being sent to a new Qantas specific lounge at the Novotel Bali Ngurah Rai Airport Hotel.

Qantas is labelling it a “preflight service”.

The lounge at the Novotel is only a couple of minutes walk from the Qantas check in counters. Note that the lounge is landside – you’ll need to leave in time to clear immigration.

The new lounge is reportedly far superior to the Premier Lounge – better food, less crowded, and a view.

Oz Traveller has found some photos, giving you an idea of what to expect.

So far, Qantas is operating this lounge at the Novotel as a “trial”. Given that their two daily Qantas flights leave within forty minutes of each other, it seems unlikely every eligible passenger will score an invitation. Those not making the list, Qantas Club members, and eligible Jetstar passengers can still retire to the Premier Lounge.

But kudos to Qantas for stepping up and looking for solutions for its best customers flying out of Denpasar.
