Qatar Airways yesterday announced that their A350-1000 would begin regular scheduled services to Sydney and Canberra from November 1, 2019.
The A350-1000 was not scheduled to touch down in Sydney until November 16, 2019, having previously been pushed back from late October.
That’s a fair bit of shuffling around and it still won’t get the prize for being the first airline to send the A350-1000 into Australia on scheduled services. Cathay Pacific wins that prize with CX105 to Melbourne on October 27, 2019.
At present, Qatar has two daily flights into Sydney; QR908/909 operated by an A380 and QR906/907 operated by a Boeing 777-300ER. The A350-1000 service replaces the 777-300ER.
This is the flight that has the Canberra tag, meaning Canberra also gets the A350-1000 – quite the score for a small airport struggling to attract international flights.
A350-1000 has the Q Suites as standard in business class with dine on demand. Sounds nice. Everybody else down the back can enjoy the 3-3-3 layout. But Qatar economy isn’t too bad as economy class goes.
Note that the alternate Sydney service, the A380, doesn’t have Q Suites.
The schedule, effective November 1, 2019, for the Qatar Airways A350-1000 Doha-Sydney-Canberra service is as follows:
