Nonstop A320 Air New Zealand flights are starting up this week between Auckland and Invercargill. The new flights will span the length of the country. Previously, passengers travelling between the two cities on Air New Zealand have had to change flights at either Dunedin or Christchurch.
The flights will run five days a week and are timed to allow Invercargill residents a full day in Auckland – handy for business, appointments, shopping and lunch. At the other end, Invercargill local officials are attempting to spruik their southern outpost as a tourist and nightlife(!) destination.
The new route runs counter to last week’s predictions of route and capacity cuts following Air New Zealand’s substantial drop in net profits.
These flights have started this week and bookings can be made via Air New Zealand.
The schedule for the new Auckland-Invercargill-Auckland flights are;
|Dep Auckland (AKL)||NZ699||Mo, We, Th, Fr, Su||19:35|
|Arr Invercargill (IVC)||21:30|
|Dep Invercargill (IVC)||NZ698||Mo, Tu, Th, Fr, Sa*||06:00|
|Arr Auckland (AKL)||07:55|
