Air New Zealand Set To Go Daily On Auckland – Gold Coast Route

Air New Zealand is going daily with its popular Auckland – Gold Coast – Auckland service from 31 March 2020.

The service currently operates five days a week (with frequency picking up during the busy school holidays) using an all economy class A321neo.

But as of the end of March 2020, Air New Zealand’s A321neo will be touching down on the Goldie every day. They will also be adding two extra weekly services over the holidays in April, June and October 2020. The airline says this will add an extra 22,000 seats annually on the route.

Air New Zealand competes with both Virgin Australia and Jetstar flying between Auckland and the Gold Coast. The Gold Coast is a popular holiday option for Kiwis.

Air New Zealand’s A321 neos seat 214 passengers in a 3-3 configuration. Seat pitch is 29”. Some rows are sold at Space+Seats (the left hand side of rows 2-9 and the right hand side of rows 2-7) where seat pitch is 33”. One way fares start from approximately AUD$220.

The timetable for Air New Zealand’s Gold Coast service effective 31 March 2020 is:

Dep Auckland (AKL)NZ0187Daily09:10
Arr Gold Coast (OOL)

Temporarily taking it to daily over the summer

Over the upcoming summer school holidays, Air New Zealand will be temporarily stepping up its Auckland – Gold Coast – Auckland services to a daily frequency. According to the Air New Zealand booking engine, the daily flights are set to operate between 6 December 2019 and 13 January 2020. From 14 January 2020, flights will drop back to six days per week. Flights will not operate on Tuesdays. This schedule then looks set to continue through until the end of March when the daily flights resume permanently.

The other point of interest is a single Boeing 787-9 service into the Gold Coast. Air New Zealand periodically operates the Dreamliners on the route over school holidays, adding capacity and giving the Goldie a taste of the Air New Zealand premium business class product.

The 787-9 service will operate on Sunday 5 January 2020 in addition to the regular A321neo service that day. The one off 787-9 schedule is:

Flight NoFrequencyTimes
Dep Auckland (AKL)NZ0247Sun 05/01/2016:40
Arr Gold Coast (OOL)

Dep Gold Coast (OOL)NZ0248Sun 05/01/2018:40
