With the exception of tacking a QF flight number onto some of its flights, Jetstar doesn’t do a lot of codeshares, so it’s noteworthy that Jetstar will be codesharing with South Korea’s Jeju Air on its new Gold Coast-Seoul-Gold Coast service.
Commencing December 8, 2019, Jetstar will be sending one of its 787-8s up to Seoul three times a week. It will be the first direct connection between the Gold Coast and South Korea. It will be interesting to see if the Goldie proves as popular with the South Koreans and it does with the Chinese and the Japanese.
And hopefully Jetstar will screen some stay safe at the beach tips on the flights down!
Jeju Air is the largest low cost carrier in South Korea. It flies domestically as well as to Japan, Russia, China, Hong Kong, the Mariana Islands and down to South East Asia. Jeju Air carried around 12 million passengers in 2018. It has a reasonable reputation – it’s a typical low cost carrier. Jetstar is its only codeshare partner.
