Qantas is stepping up its services to Japan with a seasonal Sydney-Sapporo (Chitose)-Sydney service over the 2019/20 summer. The flights will enable fast access to the Japanese ski fields over the northern hemisphere winter.
And it will be the third Japanese destination served by Qantas out of Sydney.
The flights will operate three times a week using A330-200 aircraft. The flights will operate between Monday, December 16, 2019 and Saturday, March 28, 2020 inclusive.
Qantas has three variations of the A330-200 but the differences are minimal. Two of the variations seat 271 passengers two cabins. Both seat 243 economy class passengers in a 2-4-2 configuration and 28 business class passengers in a 1-2-1 configuration with the up-to-date Business Suites. The only real difference I can see is that 6 seats are blocked on one type and 4 seats are blocked on another type. The third Qantas A330-200 type has 251 seats with 224 passengers in economy class in a 2-4-2 configuration and 27 passengers in business class in a 1-2-1 configuration, again with the Business Suites.
Flying time between Sydney and Sapporo is just on eleven hours. The flights up to Sapporo operate during daylight hours whilst the return flights to Sydney will jet through the night.
The timetable for the Sydney-Sapporo-Sydney services is:
|Dep Sydney (SYD)||QF39||Mon, Wed, Sat||09:30|
|Arr Sapporo (CTS)||18:35|
|Dep Sapporo (CTS)||QF40||Mon, Wed, Sat||20:05|

The flights are on sale now.
