Jetstar is quitting the Melbourne-Zhengzhou-Melbourne route from December 4, 2019.
Zhengzhou is a city of ten million plus people in the east central Chinese province of Henan. Jetstar started flying the route in late 2017.
Jetstar currently flies between Melbourne and Zhengzhou twice a week, departing Melbourne on Wednesdays and Saturdays and operating the return flight from Zhengzhou on Thursdays and Sundays.
The ten hour plus has been operated by 787-8 aircraft. Jetstar sold the flights on behalf of the Australian Comfort Travel Group Pty Ltd, a subsidiary of China Comfort Travel who sell flights and packages to Chinese travellers. The Melbourne office of Australian Comfort Travel Group is now permanently closed.
Passenger traffic between Melbourne and Zhengzhou was 30,870 in the 12 months ending June 30, 2019. Jetstar services to Zhengzhou had less than stellar passenger loads, with an average seat utilisation rate of 51.6% across the Melbourne-Zhengzhou-Melbourne services in the 12 months ending June 30, 2019.
On December 8, 2019, Jetstar is commencing its Gold Coast-Seoul route.
Yesterday, Oz Traveller noted Jetstar was set to axe its turbo prop regional services in New Zealand.
